Bathrooms and wet areas
Bathroom Waterproofing Auckland
Professional waterproofing for showers, bathrooms, laundries and wet areas.
We waterproof bathrooms, showers, laundries and other wet areas in new builds and renovations across Auckland. The membrane goes on before the tiles, around the shower, floor, wall junctions, penetrations and drains, to form a continuous waterproof barrier under the finishes.

- Finished before your tiler starts
- ARDEX Trained Installer, PS3 documentation where required
Why wet areas fail
Tiles and grout are not waterproof
Water gets through grout lines and around fittings every time the shower runs, so the membrane under the tiles is what stops it reaching the framing and the floor. When a bathroom leaks, the trouble is usually at the corners, the wall-to-floor junction, the shower set-down or around the waste and tap penetrations. That is where our detailing goes.
We tailor each system to the room's layout, substrate and requirements, using proven materials designed for bathrooms and wet areas. Manufacturers such as ARDEX make liquid undertile waterproofing systems for exactly this job, and Ground Up is an ARDEX Trained Installer.

Correctly installed waterproofing protects bathrooms and wet areas from water and moisture damage, supporting the durability of the structure and the finishes.
Working with your builder and tiler
Where waterproofing fits in the job
Waterproofing sits between the plumbing and the tiling. The substrate needs to be in and the plumbing penetrations set before the membrane goes on, and the membrane needs to cure before tiling starts. Tell us your timeline and who else is on the job, and we will plan around it.
We also waterproof laundries, kitchens and other wet areas. If a bathroom is above a deck or balcony, our deck membrane work can be done at the same time, and if an existing shower is already leaking, start with our leak repairs page.
What affects the price
- Size of the room
- Tiled shower or level-entry floor
- Shower only, or the whole floor
- Number of penetrations and drains
- Substrate preparation needed
- The system specified
FAQs
Bathroom waterproofing questions
Do you waterproof the whole floor or just the shower?
A tiled shower needs a membrane under the tiles. Whether the rest of the floor is waterproofed as well depends on the design and the system specified. We confirm the scope in your quote.
Do you do laundries and kitchens?
Yes. We waterproof laundries, kitchens and other wet areas as well as bathrooms and showers.
Can you provide documentation for council?
Yes. Where your project requires it, we provide PS3 documentation confirming the waterproofing was installed in line with the specified system.
Is the waterproofing guaranteed?
Our workmanship is backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty, and manufacturer system warranties apply where an approved system is specified.
